The truck struck the Route 190 bridge overpass in Enfield around 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, forcing workers to close three out of the four lanes, Connecticut State Police said. It's unclear how long they will be shut down.
The crane arm damaged the bridge's metal and concrete supports, and engineers were on the scene to inspect the extent of the harm.
Exit 47W remained open as of 1:30 p.m., but drivers should expect major delays.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
